a weekend retreat for adult MKs

I would love to join

Welcome!

The MK Network is excited to invite you to Legacy ReBoot, a weekend retreat created for adult MKs.

This retreat is open to single and married MKs (and their spouses), ages 30+, who are interested in exploring their MK experience—or better understanding their spouse’s and will include teaching sessions led by Michèle Phoenix—an author, speaker, and MK herself.

A bit of the story...

The Canadian MK Network (CMKN) was started to support Missionary's Kids (MKs) as they transition to life in Canada. Out of this mission, two retreats were created: "Classic ReBoot" (for ages 17–20) and "Wilderness ReBoot" (for ages 21-35), to help older teens and young adults respectively, navigate the transition.

Over time, it became clear that the need didn't end there.

Many adult MKs—whether 35 or 75—still find themselves processing their cross-cultural experiences, both the meaningful and the difficult. Again and again, we’ve heard from older volunteers at Classic ReBoot how deeply they’ve been impacted by reconnecting with other MKs and engaging in that shared journey.

That’s what sparked "Legacy ReBoot": a space designed specifically for adult MKs to pause, reflect, and engage more deeply with their story, alongside others who truly understand it.

Your Speaker

Michèle Phoenix

Raised in France by a Canadian father and an American mother, Michèle has a big heart for TCKs. She taught for twenty years at Black Forest Academy (BFA) in Germany before launching her own ministry advocating for third culture kids.

"...it's so liberating to connect with people that simply get it! "

What you will experience:

Great things!

Legacy ReBoot is more than a retreat—it’s a chance to be fully understood.

You’ll hear the richness of other MKs’ stories and recognize the unique blend of beauty and challenge that comes with a cross-cultural life. You’ll have space to share your own experiences—and be met with understanding instead of explanation.

Together with others at different stages of life, you’ll explore:

  • The lifelong impact of the MK experience
  • The tension of “good and hard” existing side by side
  • What it means to belong

This is a rare opportunity to slow down, reflect, and connect with people who simply get it.

Is Legacy ReBoot

for me?

"...it felt like going back in time but... better!"

It's for you if you:

  • are an MK who’s 30+ (if you’re 90+, you’ll need a doctors note!)
  • are married to an MK and want to understand them better.
  • maybe don’t feel like you quite fit in... and you don’t know why.
  • are a “well-adapted" MK.
  • are an MK who's experiencing some challenges.
  • “aged out” of Classic or Wilderness Reboot and wished you could’ve attended.
  • just want to hang out with some other MKs!
  • ever wanted to meet Michèle Phoenix in person.

I have some questions...

"...I didn't think it was for me... boy, was I wrong!"

Questions & Answers

We’ve had MKs come to our events who weren’t connected with other MKs or any “MK related events” for years. They found the experience of connecting with other MKs surprisingly easy and meaningful, and helped them process things they hadn’t thought of for a long time.

Wherever you’re at with faith and spirituality, we welcome you. There will be optional spiritual elements (times of musical worship and a short Sunday service) in the retreat which you can take part in if you want.

YES! If you are an MK, email cmkn@outreach.ca and we can help you out.

  • You will have the opportunity to grow in your understanding of various MK aspects of your life––the insights you gain can positively impact those around you.
  • If you have a spouse, they may gain valuable insights into why you are the way you are or “what makes you tick.”

It’s a great opportunity to understand your MK experience, to process the hard and the good parts of growing up MK. Often we must journey through the pain to arrive at a place of peace.
